Lewis Stark is a Partner in the Business Management Division of Adeptus. Lewis has more than 30 years in the accounting industry and currently leads the Adeptus Royalty Audit & Contract Compliance group. He specializes in conducting royalty, distribution, and profit participation audits; contract compliance investigations; vendor audits and chargeback examinations. Additional Experience: Lewis focuses on protecting intellectual properties including copyrights, trademarks, patents and brands. His experience also includes forensic auditing conducting financial due diligence reviews and appraising intellectual properties. Lewis also provides litigation consulting and expert witness testimony. Lewis enjoys consulting with his clients to help them improve contractual language, identify untapped opportunities and enhance relationships. His approach is holistic as compliance auditing is more than testing numbers. He considers the big picture including relationships, IP protection, intent, equity, general business conditions, market fluctuations, seasonality, exploitation of rights, risks and opportunities and more, in order to provide additional value to his clients. Lewis has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for his clients, which include a variety of licensors, licensees, as well as other IP owners and agents. His clients include media, sports and entertainment companies, corporate and fashion brands, pharmaceutical and medical device companies, technology licensors, and universities. In addition to obtaining monetary recoveries, Lewis provides essential business intelligence regarding the activities of his clients’ licensees and partners. Lewis is a noted industry expert and has been a prolific speaker and author on royalty-related issues. He has moderated panels and presented at licensing and entertainment industry conferences and has published articles in professional trade journals and newspapers.
