Bill Murphy as a Manager in the Business Management Division at Adeptus. Bill supports our digital services compliance audit practice, conducting financial due diligence on the sale of music publishing catalogs, and developing a music publishing royalty administration practice. With a legacy spanning 30 years in the music industry, Bill Murphy brings a wealth of expertise in copyright, licensing, royalties, and development honed through his roles at Bug Music, Universal Music Publishing, Virgin Records, Universal Music Group, and his recent leadership of Schubert Music Publishing’s U.S. operations. While at Schubert, a multifaceted EU-based music company with thirteen offices across the EU and the US, Bill collaborated with and serviced numerous established luminaries such as Ministry, the Teena Marie estate, the Richie Havens estate, Apples in stereo, Holger Beier (Mexican Institute of Sound), Lambchop, and the Mountain Goats. His services extended to fostering emerging talents including the Greek electronic pop and soundtrack artist Kid Moxie, Brooklyn's dark electronic project Nightnight, 4AD producer John Fryer, London-based rap producer King Wizard, cutting-edge Industrial act Pain Behavior, and LA's metal duo Krashkarma. Previously, Bill spent ten years auditing digital service providers, record companies, and music publishers. He developed and managed the digital royalty audit practice at Royalty Review Council and the music asset services practice at Crunch Digital. Bill’s expertise includes analyzing and processing large data sets of royalty and copyright data. Bill possesses a deep knowledge of music, and the music industry, including a thorough background in copyright, licensing, digital music distribution and royalty compliance.
